WAR MEMORIAL CEREMONY

Mount Pleasant on Sunday

Accompanied by Mr. E. H. Hannaford,M.P., and Rev. W. Floyd Shannon, of North Unley, Brig.-Gen. S. Price Weir (Public Service Commissioner) will visit Mount Pleasant on Sunday afternoon to unveil a dedication tablet and roll of Honor in the Soldiers' Memorial Hall. A group photograph of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the war, will be also unveiled. The commissioner will deliver an opening address during the ceremony, which will begin at 3 o'clock. Mr. Shannon will give a dedicatory prayer. The visitors from Adelaide will be welcomed by Messrs. V. C. Cooke (secretary), J. C. Heriot (president), and members of the committee. Mr. Cooke, who has been secretary of the hall for nine years, has been busily engaged for months on preparatory work in respect of the war memorial. In the hall there are portraits of 13 former residents of the district who were killed. About 50 names of soldiers who enlisted from the district are on the roll of honor.

FALLEN SOLDIERS REMEMBERED

Memorial Hall At Mount Pleasant

A dedication service was held in the Soldiers' Memorial Hail, Mount Pleasant, last Sunday. On the platform were the president of the committee (Mr. J. Heriot), Mr. Hannaford, M.P. Brigadier-General S. Price Weir, and Chaplain-General the Rev. W.Floyd Shannon.

There was a large attendance of returned soldiers and the public, the hall being crowded.

The dedicatory prayer in memory of the fallen was said by the Rev. W. Floyd Shannon, after which Brigadier-General S. Price Weir unveiled a memorial tablet, an honour roll, and enlarged photographs of 13 fallen soldiers.

The roll was presented by Mr. R. T. Melrose. It is of beaten copper mounted on a polished blackwood frame, the names of those killed being engraved on brass plates.The enlarged photos of the fallen soldiers are enclosed in a polished frame six feet by four feet six inches, the names, being:—M. Bax, A. Bax, P. Boomer, R. Geisler, F. Hicks, E. Jensen, G. Lintern, V. Pike, T. Whitelaw, W. Polden, J. H. Daniel, J. Deane,and W. H. Cook.

The dedicatory tablet over the doorway bears the following inscription:—"Great War,1914-1319. This hall is dedicated to the memory of those who made the supreme, sacrifice. Their name liveth for evermore."
