First club at rear of hairdresser, Bill Hood's, premises

Doctor Cowling arrived in Mount Pleasant in 1930 and pursued his lawn bowls at Woodside, before encouraging Bill Hood, the local hairdresser to form a bowling green at the rear of his home. For a decade members paid £5 each per season for maintenance of the greens by the Hood family, and bowls devotees from all around the district enjoyed social matches here regularly. Eventually the site became cramped for space and the opportunity to move the greens to the former cricket ground at Old Talunga Park was too tempting.

In 1950 the Mount Pleasant Bowling Club formed two rinks on the abandoned cricket pitch. Bore water poured over large mats of bags protected newly-planted lawn from the high salt content of the water and with the advent of mains water in 1957, the process of shifting bags during night waterings was able to be discontinued. By this time the ladies Croquet Club had been disbanded, but their spacious club rooms, complete with flagstone floor and fireplace made an ideal club house the the Bowling Club.

During the 1970s winter indoor bowls tournaments began with the Murray Ranges Indoor Bowls Association. This Association included teams from Eden Valley, Mount Pleasant and Springton, with seven clubs in total.
